desire to explain that while it is permissible to publish a very considerable portion of it, an important proportion has often to be entirely withheld, owing to its confidential nature. It frequently happens that this portion is not only

the most interesting, but also relates to the most important work the Committee have had in hand. It has been thought advisable to make this explanation in order that it may not be concluded that because no mention is made of a subject which may be claiming public attention, it has not been, or is not being, considered by the Committee.

Owing to the impending demolition of No. 159, Cannon Street, wherein for so many years the Association had its offices, fresh headquarters had to be sought. Spacious premises on the first floor of 99, Cannon Street, fronting the S.E. & C. Ry, station were selected and adapted for the purpose. The new offices have, for a very moderate outlay, been re-furnished, and the Association now possess a home alike convenient and suitable to its requirements.

of year The Association records with much regret the deaths during the of Mr. R. H. Beauchamp, Mr. J. Kennard Davis, Mr. J. J. Keswick, Mr. F. J. Marshall, Mr. J. A. Maitland, Mr. H. A. Ritchie, Mr. W. Haines Watson, and Mr. H. W. Wood.

The only changes amongst the Committee which have to be recorded since the last Annual Meeting are the election of Mr. C. Selby Moore and Mr. H. D. C. Jones to the Board.

The total membership of the Association is well maintained notwith- standing, the Committee regret to note, an increase in the number of resignations amongst London members.

Owing to the Great War it was decided that the Annual Dinner should not take place, and it was suggested that Members who had intended to be present might be glad to pay in their subscriptions to a fund to provide tobacco for the troops and towards the London Chamber of Commerce fund to supply The fund was an immediate success, and the total newspapers for the Fleet.

of £200 178. 6d. shows clearly the generous response to the appeal. £25 was contributed to the newspaper fund, and goo lbs. of tobacco and 270,000 cigarettes were sent out to the troops at the front.
